More than access - An environment and community

Membership at Clay Cobo Studio is designed for people who want time, space, and calm to focus on their practice.

 

Membership is deliberately limited to maintain the studio’s calm, refined atmosphere, giving every member a generous, well-organised workspace and an intimate creative community.

What's included

  • Dedicated drying space for work in progress

  • Shelves for work awaiting bisque and glaze firings

  • Opportunity to sell work in our in-studio shop (30% commission)

Membership access

  • Members: 6am - 11pm (except Tuesdays) up to 25 hrs /week

  • Membership numbers are capped

  • Suitable for beginners through experienced makers

Full Membership ​

  • £250 per month,

  • £675 per quarter (three months), or

  • £2,500 per year

Half Shelf Membership

  • £500 per quarter (three months) or

  • £1,850 per year 

  • Limited to half shelf space, 10hrs /week studio access and half firing capacity

 

Pay-monthly memberships require payment for a pro-rata first month and the final month in advance.

Annual / three month memberships are paid in full in advance and have a 12-month fixed term.

We use a short application process to ensure Clay Cobo Studio remains a comfortable and respectful space for everyone.

Learning at Clay Cobo Studio

Pottery Wheel Crafting

Introductory / taster session

One-off experiences designed for individuals, couples, or small groups who want to try pottery before committing to a course or membership.

Details

Perfect for beginners, couples, families, friends, or as a gift for anyone curious about pottery.

  • 1 hour 45 minutes per session (1.5 hours of making, plus time for tidy-up and wrap-up)

  • Learn the basics of wheel throwing

  • Clay, tools, firings, and studio use included

  • Each student may select two pieces to be glazed and fired by our studio

  • Finished pieces ready for collection in around four weeks

  • Small group sessions limited to four participants

 

Prices

£65 per person (from April 2026)

(*) Private taster sessions are available for £90 per person or £150 for two people. Please contact the studio to book.

Sculpting Handcraft Work

Pottery classes

4-week courses - small group classes for beginners, intermediate makers, and those looking to refresh or gently refine their skills. Build confidence while learning the full ceramic process in a supportive setting.

Details

Perfect for beginners and improvers who want to learn properly and gain confidence in wheel throwing and hand-building techniques. Also ideal for those with some prior ceramics experience who would like a structured refresher or thoughtful refinement of their skills.

  • 4 weekly sessions (3 hours each, including allocated time for tidy-up and wrap-up)

  • Small class size (maximum 6 participants) to ensure personalised guidance

  • Learn wheel throwing, hand-building, trimming, and glazing across four structured sessions

  • Build multiple pieces while refining technique and confidence

  • Clay, tools, studio use, and kiln firings included

  • Take home: all pieces created over the course
